Frequently Asked Questions

Clensr uses fixed-price quotes, not hourly billing - so you know the total before you book. A typical clean ranges from around £55 for a studio or 1-bed regular clean up to £280 for a 4-bedroom deep clean. Most 2-bed homes pay £60-£115 for a regular clean, or £140-£205 as a deep clean. Optional extras (oven £30, fridge £25, carpet £40/room, windows £6 each, walls £28/room) sit on top. Use our instant quote tool to see your exact price.

Yes, and it costs less. You can set up a cleaning plan for every week, every 2 weeks, every month, or less often, and you save up to 8% on every clean compared with booking one-offs. Your first payment is taken when you book, then you are charged automatically before each clean. You can change how often it happens, skip a single clean, pause the plan, or cancel it completely at any time from your account - there is no contract, no minimum number of cleans, and no cancellation fee for the plan itself. If you skip a clean you are not charged for it. Any optional extras you add at the start (like an oven clean) are charged once on your first payment, not every time.

A regular clean is routine upkeep - kitchen, bathrooms, floors, surfaces and general tidying - and takes about 2 to 4 hours for most homes. A deep clean is an intensive top-to-bottom job covering the inside of appliances, skirting boards, tiles, limescale and built-up grime, and takes roughly 3 to 9 hours depending on the property. Choose a deep clean if the property has not been cleaned properly in a long time, or for a move in or move out. Most people booking ongoing cleaning want a regular clean, sometimes starting with one deep clean first.

End of tenancy cleaning in the UK typically costs between £150-£400 for a standard property, depending on size and condition. A one-bedroom flat usually costs £150-£200, a two-bedroom property £200-£280, and a three-bedroom house £280-£400. Prices vary by location, with London generally being 20-30% higher. Many landlords and letting agents require professional end of tenancy cleaning to return your deposit.

This depends on your agreement with the cleaner. Many professional cleaners bring their own supplies and equipment, while some prefer to use products already in your home. At Clensr, you can specify your preference when booking. Using your own products can sometimes reduce the hourly rate, and is useful if you have allergies or prefer eco-friendly products.

Reputable cleaning services like Clensr are transparent about pricing. However, common additional charges to ask about include: parking fees (especially in city centres), congestion zone charges in London, charges for heavily soiled properties, and fees for specialist equipment like carpet cleaners. Always ask for a full quote before booking.

For most people, yes. Hiring a cleaner saves 2-4 hours per week, reduces stress, and keeps your home consistently clean. It's particularly valuable for busy professionals, families with children, older customers, or anyone who values their free time. With fixed-price quotes from around £85 a clean, many find it more cost-effective than spending their own weekend on it. Start with a fortnightly clean and adjust to suit your routine.

This depends on your household size, lifestyle, and budget. Common schedules are: Weekly cleaning for busy families or high-traffic homes, Fortnightly (every 2 weeks) for couples or smaller households, Monthly for light maintenance or supplementing your own cleaning, One-off for special occasions or seasonal deep cleans. Most UK households opt for fortnightly cleaning as a good balance between cost and cleanliness.

Booking a cleaner through Clensr is simple: 1) Enter your postcode to find available cleaners in your area, 2) Select the type of cleaning you need (regular, deep clean, end of tenancy, etc.), 3) Choose your preferred date and time, 4) Review cleaner profiles and customer ratings, 5) Book and pay securely online. You can book cleaners in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and 40+ other UK cities.

For regular cleaning services, booking 2-3 days in advance is usually sufficient. For end of tenancy cleaning or deep cleaning, we recommend booking 1-2 weeks ahead, especially during busy periods (end of month, summer). Same-day or next-day bookings are sometimes available depending on cleaner availability in your area.

Yes, you can cancel through your Clensr account at any time before the service starts. Refunds follow a tiered policy based on how close to the scheduled start time you cancel: 100% refund if you cancel 24 hours or more before service; 75% refund if you cancel between 2 and 24 hours before service (a 25% cancellation fee is retained); 50% refund if you cancel less than 2 hours before service (a 50% cancellation fee is retained). When a cancellation fee is retained and a cleaner has been assigned to your booking, the fee is split: 75% is paid to the assigned cleaner as compensation for the time slot they reserved for you and any travel they may have started, and 25% is kept by Clensr to cover non-refundable Stripe payment-processing fees and admin. If no cleaner has been assigned to your booking yet, the full cancellation fee is retained by Clensr (since no individual cleaner has had their time reserved). The full policy is set out in our Terms of Service.

You do not need to be home during the cleaning. Many customers provide key access or use a key safe. However, since Clensr does not vet cleaners, we recommend being present for at least the first clean until you feel comfortable with your cleaner. You can review cleaner profiles and customer ratings to help make your decision. You can also arrange key handover directly with your cleaner.

A standard regular house clean typically includes: dusting surfaces, wiping down kitchen worktops and appliances, cleaning bathrooms (toilet, sink, bath/shower), vacuuming and mopping floors, tidying and organising, and emptying bins. Some services also include making beds and light laundry. You can customise what's included based on your priorities.

A deep clean is more thorough than regular cleaning and includes: cleaning inside ovens, fridges, and kitchen appliances, washing windows (interior), cleaning behind furniture and appliances, descaling bathroom fixtures, cleaning light fittings and skirting boards, washing walls and doors, and detailed cleaning of all rooms. Deep cleans are recommended every 3-6 months or before special events.

End of tenancy cleaning (also called move-out cleaning) is a comprehensive clean when you leave a rented property. It includes everything in a deep clean plus: carpet cleaning, oven cleaning, cleaning inside all cupboards and wardrobes, removing limescale, and ensuring the property meets inventory standards. Many letting agents require proof of professional end of tenancy cleaning to return your deposit.

Interior window cleaning is often included in deep cleans. Regular cleaning may include wiping window sills but not the glass itself. External window cleaning is usually a separate specialist service. When booking, you can request interior window cleaning as an add-on if it's important to you.

Yes, many cleaners offer laundry and ironing as part of their service or as an add-on. This typically includes loading/unloading the washing machine, hanging or tumble drying clothes, folding, and ironing. Specify your laundry requirements when booking to ensure your cleaner can accommodate this.

Yes, same-day cleaning is sometimes available through Clensr, depending on cleaner availability in your area. It's most common in large cities like London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow. For urgent cleaning needs (unexpected guests, post-party cleanup, pre-viewing for property sale), check our same-day cleaning service. Keep in mind that booking in advance gives you more choice of cleaners and better availability.

To get the most from your cleaning appointment: tidy away clutter so cleaners can focus on cleaning surfaces, secure valuables and personal items, clear kitchen counters and bathroom surfaces where possible, provide access instructions if you won't be home, leave any special cleaning supplies if you want specific products used, and communicate any priority areas or rooms. Good preparation helps cleaners work efficiently and thoroughly.

No. Clensr is a marketplace platform that connects customers with self-employed cleaners. We do NOT vet, verify, conduct background checks, or perform DBS checks on cleaners. Cleaners on the platform are independent contractors who set their own rates and manage their own businesses. As stated in our Terms of Service, you engage cleaners entirely at your own risk, and it is your responsibility to satisfy yourself as to the suitability and trustworthiness of any cleaner before allowing them access to your property.

Cleaners using Clensr are required by our Terms of Service to maintain their own Personal Liability Insurance (minimum £1,000,000 coverage). However, Clensr does not verify or validate cleaner insurance. If something is damaged during a clean, you should: 1) Report it to the cleaner directly and through the platform within 24 hours, 2) Work with the cleaner and their insurance provider to resolve the issue. We recommend asking cleaners for proof of insurance before your first booking.

Clensr provides a platform for finding cleaners, but we do not vet or verify cleaners. We recommend: reviewing the cleaner's profile and customer ratings on the platform, asking the cleaner for references or proof of insurance, being present for the first clean until you feel comfortable, securing valuables before any cleaning appointment, and trusting your own judgement. Customer reviews on the platform are genuine and can help inform your decision, but ultimately the choice to engage a cleaner is yours.

Clensr accepts all major debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). Payment is taken securely when you book. For regular cleaning, you can save your card for automatic payments. We hold payment until the clean is completed, then release it to the cleaner.

No, all payments go through the Clensr platform. This protects both you and the cleaner: you're guaranteed service before payment is released, and cleaners are guaranteed payment for completed work. It also provides a clear record of all transactions for both parties.

If you're not satisfied with the cleaning, contact us within 24 hours. Options include: the cleaner returning to address any issues at no extra cost, a partial refund for areas not cleaned to standard, or a full refund in cases of significant service failure. We review each case fairly and aim to resolve issues quickly.

To become a Clensr cleaner: 1) Sign up on our website and complete your profile, 2) Provide your details and set up your cleaner profile, 3) Obtain Personal Liability Insurance (minimum £1,000,000 coverage as required by our Terms of Service), 4) Set your availability and service areas, 5) Start browsing and claiming available jobs. You operate as a self-employed independent contractor. You are paid a set amount per job - an hourly rate for the scheduled hours plus a travel allowance, a supplies allowance and a fixed amount for each optional extra - and you see that exact amount before accepting any job. As you are self-employed, you are responsible for registering with HMRC, filing your own tax returns, and paying any National Insurance contributions due.

Cleaners on Clensr earn around £18-£24 per hour depending on job size and condition, with optional extras (oven, fridge, carpet, windows) paying on top. A cleaner working around 30 paid hours a week can gross roughly £26,000-£36,000 a year before their own costs and tax, and team owners taking on multi-cleaner jobs scale higher. You control your availability, services and area. The full platform fee structure is in our Terms of Service.

While professional experience is preferred, it's not always required. We look for: attention to detail, reliability and punctuality, good communication skills, and a genuine passion for cleaning. If you're new to professional cleaning, we recommend starting with regular house cleaning before offering specialist services like end of tenancy cleaning.

Clensr is free to join with no monthly subscription or minimum hours. You are paid on a cost-plus basis rather than a percentage split: £17 per hour for regular cleans or £20 per hour for deep cleans, plus a £5 travel allowance and a £3-£6 supplies allowance on every job, plus a fixed amount for each optional extra. Clensr keeps the difference between the customer's price and your payment - typically 22-27% of the customer price, though it is not a fixed percentage. Your payment is shown on every job before you accept it, and is paid via Stripe once the job is complete. If a customer books a recurring plan at a discount, your payment per visit is unchanged - the discount comes out of Clensr's share only. The full fee structure is in our Terms of Service.
